TuBerculosis Vaccine Initiative (TBVI)
TBVI is an independent non-profit foundation that facilitates the development of new vaccines to protect future generations against tuberculosis.
We financially support and bring expertise to an integrated network of over 50 universities, institutes and industries to develop more effective, safe vaccines that will be globally accessible and affordable. Research conducted by our mostly European based network has already resulted in promising vaccine discoveries.
New vaccines are urgently needed to stop tuberculosis. Every year almost 9 million new cases of this infectious disease are recorded. Every year around 1.5 million people die of TB, equaling one death every 22 seconds.
