Put TB high on political agenda

Tuberculosis is threatening societies all around the world: Europe, China, India, Africa, no continent is free of TB. The increase of drug resistant tuberculosis and co-infection with HIV make the problem even more urgent. With almost 2 million deaths and nearly 10 million new patients each year, tuberculosis is a huge cost to humanity and an enormous drain on the global economy. Yet promising vaccine research projects risk being put on hold because of lack of resources.

We need strong commitment from European and other governments and individual politicians to achieve our goal of elimination of TB. TuBerculosis Vaccine Initiative seeks to engage governments and politicians for political support, awareness building, innovative funding, guarantees and other advanced commitments. Taking into account the current difficult financial climate, TBVI has developed a new funding model that will allow promising discoveries to be translated into actual vaccines. For more information, please contact us.

Investing in vaccines will not only save lives, prevent health disaster and relieve poverty. It also contributes to building knowledge based economies, creating jobs and sustainable growth. Through our strategy, our working model and our projects, TBVI promotes international plans and policies such as the Lisbon Agenda, the Millennium Development Goals and the Stop TB Partnership.

TBVI commits to responsible use of all resources, effective solutions and long term positive social and economic impact.
