5. Erna Balk

Erna Balk is TBVI’s director communications and advocacy relations. She is responsible for the strategy to promote TBVI and its activities to (new) partners, donors, allies, politicians, media and other interest groups, for the development of communications tools and media relations.

Erna has extensive experience in communication within research institutes. Before joining TBVI she worked for the Dutch Central Veterinary Institute and the Animal Sciences Group of Wageningen UR.

Erna: “I love to work for a young organization because much has to be done and developed: building relations with partners, potential donors and allies, promoting our organization, developing new plans and tools, searching for new financial resources. Everything for the ultimate goal: developing new vaccines to move to a TB free world. There is an almost direct link between the output of our team work and the success in achieving our goals, and that’s very inspiring.”
