Mr. Philippe Busquin

Mr. Philippe Busquin is a former Member of the European Parliament for the French Community of Belgium with the Parti Socialiste. Busquin was the chairman of the Science and Technology Options Assessment Panel.
Philippe Busquin is also former European Commissioner of Research and he was founding Commissioner of the EDCTP (European and Developing Countries Clinical Trial Partnership).
Before his EU membership, he was Minister of several Belgian ministries: Social Affairs and Health, the Interior, Education, Economic Affairs, Budget and Energy. He is minister of State since 1992 and former senator.
Currently, Mr Busquin is Mayor of Senef and also chairman of the National Institute for Radioelements (IRE) in Belgium. Philippe Busquin has a degree in physics, a postgraduate certificate in environmental studies and a first degree in philosophy.
