Dr. Dorette Corbey


Dr. Dorette Corbey is a Dutch politician and former Member of the European Parliament (1999-2009). She is a member of the Partij van de Arbeid (Dutch Labour Party), which is part of the Party of European Socialists, and sat on the European Parliament's Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety. She was also a substitute for the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy and a member of the delegation for relations with the People's Republic of China.

Dr. Corbey started her career as a general nurse. Afterwards she was researcher at the Netherlands Institute for International Relations, 'Clingendael'. Her next position was policy advisor at FNV (Dutch Trade Union Federation) followed by project coordinator at the European Works Councils, European Federation of Building and Woodworkers, Brussels. Then she became a member of the European Integration Committee of the Advisory Council on International Affairs before she joined the European Parliament.

Dr. Corbey has a higher degree in social geography, University of Amsterdam and a doctoral degree in law and international relations, State University of Leiden. Currently she is employed as director of the Advisory Council for Science, Technology and Energy.
